Posted on November 10, 2010Victor Porrello asked:
The first Thanksgiving gathering was held in 1621 in Plymouth Mass., a three day affair celebrating the Pilgrims’ harvest and giving thanks to God. Native Americans were invited to participate in the festivities because of their help and assistance in aiding the Pilgrim’s through their first year in the new land. The three day feast consisted of all types of food including fish, clams, lobster, meats such as venison, beef, and turkey. They also served a variety of fruit, squash, pumpkin, and other dishes over the three days. This day was considered to be a gathering and not actually a holiday.
In October 1789, George Washington, the first President of the United States proclaimed and created the first Thanksgiving Day that was recognized on a national basis. The proclamation was a recognition of an Almighty God, celebrating and giving thanks for all the blessings God bestowed on the people in this newly formed country. The national government celebrated God’s gift of freedom, liberty, and religious tolerance. The president declared November 26th, 1789 as a day of observance for our gratefulness to God and country.
Other presidents proclaimed a Thanksgiving celebration from time to time but the there were also individual states that proclaimed statewide celebrations of their own. It was during the Civil War in 1863 that President Abraham Lincoln declared a national holiday of Thanksgiving be celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. Since that time the United States has set aside that particular Thursday in November to observe a day of thanks.
This year we should all give thanks to God, for His blessings for our country and for our freedoms we share as Americans. Whether your ancestors came here on the Mayflower or you’ve just recently became a citizen of this country, we as Americans share this heritage.

Kesha Halloween Costume Ideas – Face Paint and Eye Makeup for 2010 MTV Star Ke$Ha Costume
Posted on October 28, 2010Jesse R Wojdylo asked:
Kesha Halloween costume ideas have been talked about quite a bit lately as many young females will want to dress up as this MTV star. Fortunately, it does not take much to look like Ke$ha as she tends to wear face paint or some type of eye makeup every time she is on stage. This can be emulated quite easily with a quite trip to the local drug store or WalMart or Target. Rather than going out and spending hundreds of dollars on a costume it may be as easy as getting a little bit of extra makeup.
During the VMAs in 2010 Kesha wore a trash bag dress that she claimed to get from Lowe’s. A single trash bag probably costs about a quarter and the makeup need to look like this young lady would probably cost around $10. This is a very inexpensive costume in a time when many Americans are spending quite a bit to look like their favorite stars. You probably already have the heels to go with the trash bag dress so all it will take is a little bit of work on your makeup and you should be good to go for Halloween in 2010.
Each and every year a growing number of Americans look to take advantage of the fun times that Halloween brings. Before going out this holiday season remember that it is just one night out of the year and you will not want to spend a great amount of money on something that will likely only last a few hours. With this being the case it might be smart to make a quick trip to the local store to get a few extra items to look just like Kesha and not worry about all the extras that your friends and family will probably spend too much money on.
2010 Halloween costume ideas have been very wide in range. Some people want to go as rappers such as Ludacris or Lil Wayne while others want to go as pop stars such as Katy Perry or Lady Gaga. Another growing trend in 2010 is going as the cast members of Jersey Shore. No matter what costume idea you choose this year make sure to remember that it is all in good fun and try not to take things too seriously. If someone else has the exact same costume idea as you simply play it off and enjoy your night.

Fingerless Gloves – Essential 80s Fancy Dress! Coming Back From the 80s and Into Fashion!
Posted on July 05, 2010Deni Griffiths asked:
Fingerless gloves are a well recognised 80s fashion accessory, which means two things. 1. A must for your 80s fancy dress party. And 2. Celebrate, cos thanks to Kesha, Rhiannon, Lady Gaga and plenty of other hot celebs, they are making a big appearance out and about at parties, too!
This means, you should find fingerless gloves in your fashion accessory stores, if not now, very soon. Also, you will always find these online.
Generally, there are three main styles to consider, for either fashion or fancy dress.
The lace fingerless glove, available in full length, or just to the wrist. A girly accessory, the lace glove is particularly good for the Madonna look.
Wear the lace glove with any combination of acid denim, lace, mesh, leggings and mini skirts or ra ra skirts.
The knit fingerless glove, used to be available in many hot and bold colours. Worn by both guys and girls, and should compliment most 80s outfits.
The leather / leather-look glove, is great for the 80s punk and 80s rocker look. These gloves are also available with studs, and were famously worn by Billy Idol.
Whichever glove you choose, it will certainly make your 80s outfit or 80s costume a hit!
If you are looking to buy these online, I have links to both Amazon and BuyCostumes, as they have an excellent range and great prices.
